Jane Powell ArtTime to get Passionate!

Wednesday 4th October

The Passionflower is the most extraordinary plant! It has an amazing, and actually really quite bizarre, structure and the colours are sensational! This workshop is fundamentally a stitch-based session with some three-dimensional wirework and possibly feather work thrown in!  You will have the option to create a single flowerhead with stem and tendrils presented on a small pre-painted canvas (you to supply) or a free-standing stem with flowers, leaves and tendrils.

Fully booked. Contact Jane if you would like to book for 2nd session on Wednesday 8th November.  2 places available. email to book

Autumn Leaves

Wednesday 11th October

Guest tutor, Karen Scannell, is going to spend the day with us printing fabric in preparation for embroidery and beadwork. To be seasonal, the theme is Autumn Leaves. You will be working with a range of leaf stencils and Markel Pens to create leaf silhouettes which can be then be embellished in stitch.

Gone to Seed

Saturday 14th October

We spend so much time celebrating plants and flowers when they are in bloom but their autumn and winter forms can be just as spectacular.  Seed heads are, by their very nature, structured forms, architectural and often highly textured.  In this one-day workshop, we will explore in stitch some of the distinctive plants of winter, such as umbellifers, honesty and docks.  We will also look at the impact of frost and snow on plant skeletons.

Loopy LJane Powell Artupins

Wednesday 18th October

Lupins are another English country garden plant. The rocket-like structures in rainbow colours are extraordinary! In this one-day workshop, you will learn how to create a cluster of lupins (or whatever the collective term is – lashings, perhaps?!) set against a garden scene. You will be working in organza and polyester ribbon and thread to build three-dimensional plants that are stitched on hessian and then fixed to a painted canvas.
